May 2008 was the last time I blogged. Jeezy creezy. My blog is going to read like the Pitt comic book series only I'm definitely not as neat as Mr. Keown and he was more on time. WHICH by the way... I died a little bit on my birthday this year. I am now the proud owner of a Dale K. original page of Hulk. *quiver* DALE KEOWN HULK!! Sorry, let me collect myself again.
So as of late, I've realized that letting my art live only in the form of crappy corporate, branded web graphics is no longer acceptable. The thing is, getting out of the daily grind, skinny tie mindset and back into creative chaos is not as easy as it sounds. So I've been reading.
Books. Articles. Reviews of software. First year student color theory studies. I know right? @_@ That, and more.
Most of these things are suggesting going back to basics. Back to your roots if you have them... planting some if you didn't. I feel I have a root or two under my feet but they haven't had water in a while. Basics eh?
I dug out my sketch book and sharpened some charcoal and sketched my cat. I sketched my kitchen. And they were done fast and were crap. Not the kind of stuff to post smugly on some FX/CG/WTF website... just quick, dirty studies. It felt good. It seems so alien creating something just for me and to not care if it's perfect or who will look at it and judge me.
I am addicted.
So even if it's five minutes, something crappy will be sketched every day. I urge anyone in a creative rut to try the same and see what happens. ^_^
Also, no one reads this but if anyone has a google accident and knows of nice artwork sites like gorillaartfare.com or imaginefx.com let me know.
It's almost bed time now, but I also am trying to get back on the writing wagon. Maybe if I remind myself that I don't have to write a War and Peace entry every time, it'll make the task less daunting. Twitter has kind of corrected that in me, although I still agonize trying to get a full thought in that tiny, tiny box most of the time.
One quick thing... FRAK EARTH. I just watch the first episode of the new and final season of BSG and while I will not spoil anything, I will say... WTF? o_O
The Shanghai Restoration Project- Zodiac is nice too if you want to hear something pretty and fun.
