Vets, kittens and strings.. oh my!
It's been a pretty dramatic week. I'm eternally grateful it's finally Friday. We took Yuki the Destroyer™ to the vet on Monday to get her surgery to prevent kitten spawning. I hadn't really given it much thought prior to taking her, that there's a possibility that they do things of that nature differently in this country. All the kittens and cats I've known that had this done, come home with a little nick on their belly and that's about the end of the story. Well, not here.
- Get snow to get the cat carrier down from storage with out killing himself.
- Get kitten into the carrier.
- Try talking to the kitten in the car, saying that it's for her own good and it'll be fine. (This step is more for the humans to feel better though I think)
- Take scared kitten into the vet's office and try not to get upset when leaving.
- Wait until noon to call them to find out how she is. Forcing yourself to have some self control and not call them every 15 minutes for status reports.
- Run out of work to go fetch the kitten.
- Look in horror as the kitten has a shaved square on her side about the size of one of those tear-off desk calendars. Try not to get upset at the Frankenkitty presented to you.
- Tenderly take kitten home and let her out of the cage. Treat her like a queen.
- Notice kitten eyeing the stitches. Hangie strings! [kitten bites strings]
- Snow and I take fifteen minutes to wrangle up the cat and figure out the "lamp shade" collar mechanism. Get collar on kitten. [2.5 seconds go by] Kitten gets out of collar. Humans give up on collar.
- Realize on day 4 that kitten has pulled out stitches. Call vet.
- [Repeat steps 1-3]
- Vet then GLUES kitten o_O
The end.
Yeah, so now we have a glued together kitten. I guess no one ever came up with the idea to make the veterinary surgical thread have a foul taste to it so animals wouldn't want to eat it? I suppose they'd argue that they still need to lick around the wounds, but surely they could so something? The fact that they do the surgery on the critter's side here is strange too. Now she's gonna look like a hobo for the next six months. I'm just glad she's ok though. What an ordeal!
In other news... I started playing FFXI some what again. I'm going to try and only play on weekends though. I don't want to make it a daily habit again, unless snow let's me hire a maid and personal chef? *light bulb* It's good to play again though. Madsen had to help me find the way through Castle Zvhal Baileys on Sunday, so the time off has definitely not improved my navigational skills.
In other, other news... I'm on the third book [High Lord] of the Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. I really like these books and recommend them to anyone that is in the mood for magical bookie goodness. ^_^
Ok, lunch break over. Happy Friday everyone!
