One lump or two? ^_^

I added a link to a dangerously cute (and funny) web comic I found. *points to the right* Two Lumps by J. Grant and Mel Hynes makes me laugh... which most things out there do not have the ability to do. I'm fairly certain that my own lump Athena has been reading this comic whilst we're at work because her hankering for "gooshy food" has tripled in the last few weeks. When I start getting mysterious packages in the mail addressed to her, then I'll know for sure what she's been up to online haha!

I managed to read through the archives and just really liked the style. If I had to be picky, I'd say the only thing wrong with it is that it's on Keepspot (advert overkill=blah) and could use a bit of code ninja'ing. I suppose since a lot of my job now is SEO related, I'm finicky about yucky code.

Anyway, it's adorable and you should check it out if you need something fun to do ^_^; Two paws up fo' sho'!

P.S. Mondays suck eggs... pass it on.

Moogles in tiny coats? Someone pinch me.

Ahoy! I have not been writing as frequently as I'd like. Between the Christmas festivities and birthdays I suppose there just hasn't been a time to do so. That's the excuse everyone uses this time of year... I'm sure it doesn't work but I DO have a birthday that just passed on January the 16th so I'm special. My lack of motivation has a reason? Yeah, I blame Christmas. I almost typed I blame Jesus but I just started learning to drive on the wrong side of the road/car over here and I don't want to press my luck. I know all none of you that still read this has been crushed and wondering what happened to me... but fear not! I am back with much news and opinions of fun, exciting things.

First off, I received a Wii from santasnow this Christmas. Originally I said that I'd probably not buy one but would like to play Zelda since I'm a fan. Well, that was one of the stupidest ideas my melon has ever thought up. Nintendo really developed something fun, not to mention it's small and cute. The "small" factor is nice since space is limited in our place and with all of the other gadgets taking up room, the dimensions of the Wii are perfect. The darn thing is just fun. I'd elaborate but I think you just have to play one for yourself. There are tons of sites out there documenting all the wiimote disasters which is amusing as well. I love the Wii and if you don't love the Wii, you don't get any dessert after dinner. ^_^;

The next order of business is the PS3. Yeah, got one of those too and well... just one game. The one game is not even for the PS3. Of course I'm talking about FFXII! I only have a UK PS2 here and even worse, the UK version of FFXI isn't even released yet. So we did what every red-blooded, obsessive gamer nerd does, got an american PS3 so we can play all the games when they release them in the US.

The PSH(ot) is really swanky looking. It's looks like what would happen if you took a PSP and gave it 28 vials of Jekyll's potion. The interface looks dangerously close to that of the PSP with happy icons and whirly background. It's definitely classier than the Xbox 360 but doesn't have the "fun" appeal as far as customizing. Apparently you can allocate space and install any OS you want. I wouldn't let snow hack it until I finished FFXII just in case. Which leads me to my next topic...

I'm already obsessed A new Final Fantasy game make naku a happy girl
I don't want to do laundry anymore...fabreeze! A new Final Fantasy game make naku a happy girl
please send food A new Final Fantasy game make naku a happy girl

Ehm... right. Where was I? Well, so far after putting a bit over 30 hours into it I feel I can review'ish it. It's darn good. I wasn't sure at first until the story line progressed a bit and I actually got to control my character instead of watching six hours of cut scene. Not that I'm complaining since the cinema scenes are wonderful and quite pleasant to watch! It's like any other FF game though.... you want to dig in but you need to be patient. I hate waiting. I really wish they would have made this a PS3 title though. Not that I'm disappointed in it, but I would have liked to see smoother graphics and FFXIII isn't due out for another two million years or something. The game mechanics are fun and surprisingly enough, kind of have a FFXI feel. Yeah I know, that sounds funny since there aren't any noobtastics walking about asking questions about fish mining, expecting a laugh when you might as well come at me with 25 consecutive badgerbadgerbadger mushrooms.

There are however, similar looking maps. For instance Garamsythe Waterway (FFXII) looks almost identical to Toraimarai Canal (FFXI). I thought for a second Fenrir was going to jump out and make dog chow out of me, alas... just wimpy skelingtons with the occasional beefed-up bat. I've been taking the last several hours of game playing time to level up my characters. The new version of the "sphere grid" is done with license points (LP) which are given along with XP. Nice system, but you can't use any spell/armor/tricky move with out the appropriate license. You basically kill things until you pass out on the couch from exhaustion.

I'm probably going about the game the wrong way. I'm so used to spending 3 weeks in the same area (like FFXI) to level up that I'm doing so in this game as well. I'm not building up one character as a mage, one as a melee etc. I'm building every character up equally so that every character I have is able to use every spell, piece of armor, technique and weapon available. It's more fun that way, for me at least. It's really just my house work that's suffering since I don't have a problem spending 6 hours chaining skelingtons.

I'll update with progress (maybe) and of course if I have issues with it. Anyway, it's great fun and the moogles wear tiny, stylish outfits which makes me love it even if it did suck game wise. There are some familiar faces too *cough*montblanc*cough*. You should get it and play it.

Time to do some work!
